The Holidays are quickly approaching and one of my favorite things to do is create custom gift tags every year for family and friends! I base the design on the wrapping paper I go with or sometimes what is trending that year. I came across some Balloon Doggie Ornaments at Hobby Lobby and I was instantly in love!
Once I got home I knew I wanted to make some gift tags with this design to match. I headed over to The Silhouette Design Store. They truly have an amazing selection of designs to choose from. My Silhouette Cameo 3 is by far one of my go to’s for many of my crafting projects along with my new Silhouette ALTA 3D Printer!
This post is part of a 3 Series Collection. I will be sharing two additional Balloon Doggie projects with you very soon! You may want to sign up for our email list if you haven’t already. I will be sharing a special printable to coordinate with this series. These gift tags are sure to be a cute and colorful addition to your holiday gifting this year. The possibilities are endless. Since my penmanship is not great I also cut out names using my black vinyl for the names.

Begin by opening your Designs #83778 in Silhouette Studio located in your Library.
Purchase and download your design.
Once you have done that open up your designs in your design window.
You will want to go to your menu bar and select object and choose the mirror above from your drop down menu. This will make it into a card so that it flips open.
At this time you will want to decide what size you want your gift tags to be. You can make the gift tags any size you wish.
Now you will want to move both shapes so that they overlap. Once they overlap, I used my eraser tool to remove the center of the doggie heads.
They will now appear to be one design. You will want to make a few score lines where you deleted the center in order for your card to fold on the top.
Now you are ready to send your design to print and cut.
At this point you can load your card stock to your silhouette and select the proper cut settings. You will need to do this a few times with various colors of paper.
Set your Balloon Doggie Card aside and load your Silhouette with black vinyl for your names.
Open up a new file and type out your names using the font or your choice but ensure you measure your doggie hang tag so that the name fits nicely on the card.
Once your names have been cut you will weed your design and place transfer paper on top of your names. Make sure they are centered on your hang tags.
Now you can use your hole punch to make the hole to attach your ribbon onto your name tag.
At this point your almost done you just need to write a special little message and your Balloon Doggie Hang tags are ready to be gifted!
