Happy Friday! One of my favorite Holidays is Valentine’s Day! The main reason is chocolate, let’s be honest! On that particular day, I can get away with eating an entire box of chocolates and no-one will look at me like “hmmm” are you going to eat all that? Yes, yes I am! LOL I’m always obsessed with all the pretty pinks and hearts floating around everywhere I go this time a year. One of my very favorite things to do is help my little ones with their valentines and create a party idea for their classroom. This year, I received an amazing bucket of Sweetheart Suckers from CANDY CREEK LOLLIPOPS just in time for Valentine’s Day! Did you know that they offer sugar free lollipops? Candy Creek Lollipops are made from only the finest ingredients using old world craftsmanship. The flavors and colors are bright, clear and luscious! Some of their fun flavors are Persian lime, Watermelon, Raspberry Crush, Wild Strawberry, Georgia Peach, Italian Lemon, Concord Grape, Tangerine, Root Beer, Blue Berry Blast, Peppermint, Butterscotch Swirl and Chocolate Mint.
I created a table top display idea that would be fun for any Valentine’s Day party! I had purchased a wooden heart at Target a few years ago that I never got a chance to use so I knew I had to start there. Once I knew what I wanted to do, I got to work! Hope you like it as much as I do! You can use this DIY with any wooden shape, design, colors and candy. You could even do a small box instead of a shelf. This would not only make a cute center piece idea but a great gift idea!

I started out with 1 wooden heart.
I taped off my design before painting. I went with a simple color block since I wanted the wood to still show. I did two coats of paint.
Once painted I removed the tape and let it dry.
I then measured the piece of wood to fit the width of the heart where I wanted my shelf to be displayed.
Then I used a miter saw to cut the wood piece to my desired length.
Once I was done I also cut a 45 degree angle on the wood.
Then I used a pencil to mark my desired hole placement design before drilling my holes.
I then taped off the drill bit with painters tape about 5/16″ from drill tip to gauge my depth.
Once all the holes were drilled, I used two small cabinet screws to hold the shelf in place. If you have time you could always use wood glue.
Now for the heart design. You will begin by opening your Designs #119864 & #54567 in Silhouette Studio located in your Library.
Purchase and download your design.
Once you have done that open up your designs in your design window.
You will want to measure and adjust the size of your text to ensure you can still see the design once the suckers are displayed.
Then you will send to your design to print and cut window.
Now you will want to send your design to cut.
Next you will want to load your vinyl into your silhouette and select the proper cut settings.
Once your files have been cut unload your design and weed it.
You will now want to place your transfer paper on top of each design and apply it carefully to your wooden heart. This way you can see if you like the placement since you will be displaying the suckers.
Now you can add your suckers, place your heart on your easel and your are all set to “share” your Sweetheart Suckers!
Do you have any Valentine’s Day tradition or special treat you like to endulge in?
