I do love an easy furniture DIY project! So when I came across these awesome metal legs at Cottage Industry MI
I knew exactly what I wanted to make. I mean “LOOK AT THOSE LEGS”! Yes, I went there LOL . Now not only are they hand crafted by “Jessy and his lovely wife Shelly” but the quality and customer service is amazing! This bench is not only sturdy but is stylish and easy to recreate. Your options on materials and colors are endless with a piece like this and you can use it just about anywhere.
Here is a little bit more details on the legs and some of the options available. I can’t wait to share my next project with you guys coming soon!
The flat iron are available in 3 sizes of steel:
1.75″ x 1/4″
2.5″ x 1/4″
2.5 x 3/8″
The 2.5″ x 1/4″ are clear-coated raw hot rolled steel for indoor use. These can be built in any size and shape, trapezoid or rectangle. They are ideal for bench legs, sofa tables, end tables etc.
The 2.5″ x 3/8″ are clear-coated raw hot rolled steel for indoor use. These can be built in any size and shape trapezoid or rectangle. They are ideal for heavy duty bench leg, small dining table legs, work desk, bars etc.
Begin by flipping the bench board on its face. Find the center and measure in both directions to the desired spread you wish to have your legs set at. I personally had them set to about 8″ from both edges to give a slight overhang.
Set the legs on the bench, level them out and mark your holes for the bolt placement. Pre-drill the holes with an 1/8″ drill bit to make it a little easier to drive the bolts and keep it straight. Mount the legs, flip it over and you are ready to finish.
Once finished or clear coated you are ready to enjoy your new bench!
Where would you place your bench?!
