Modern Necklaces & Earings – DIY

I’m totally obsessed! These DIY Modern Necklaces and earrings are so easy and fun to make. I want to gift these to all my friends! These are part of a fun workshop coming up in late May with Westelm GR. We are beyond excited to be partnering up with them again for another evening of Make and Take! I wanted to make something fun to wear to the event and I thought these would be the perfect accessory. The combination of wood, colored leather cording along with the poms made these one of my favorite go to pieces.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Begin by deciding which wooden shape you would like to use. Then you will want to pencil mark the center of your shape and drill a 1/2 inch hole on the bottom of your shape.

Once you have drilled your hole you will want to attach the pom pom to the wooden shape using your gold hook. I decided to use two connected together to ensure my pom pom stood out and hung a bit lower than the shape.

Then you will want to measure and cut your desired colored leather cording.

At this point you will attach the cording to your shape by making a simple overlap pull knot.

The possibilities are enless. You can have any shape, you can paint them and or add a design to achieve various looks.

SUPPLIES:

  • Wooden shape – (Target)
  • Acrylic Paint – (Michaels)
  • Gold Earing Hooks – (Hobby Lobby)
  • Dill and 1/2 inch Drill bit
  • Painters Tape
  • Small Paint Brush

Instructions:

Begin by deciding which wooden shape you would like to use. Then you will want to pencil mark the top center of your shape and drill a 1/2 inch hole.

Once you have drilled your hole you will want to choose your paint color. I decided to paint mine pink and tape them of in a colorblock design. I gave mine about 3 coats of paint and let them dry.

Once dry you can remove the tape and attach your gold hooks and your all set.

Now you have a great set of modern earings to go out in.
