“Let’s Grab A Towel“! I’m sure many of you have seen the cool Palm patterns and designs all over this summer. This project is in no short supply of that and was inspired by a towel I found and fell in love with! I’m one of those girls that can’t ever seem to have enough totes or bags of any kind. I probably have a thousand of them in all different materials, shapes and sizes. This towel not only was huge but had the best bold design on it. Once I got it home I realized I could make about 4 projects and still have a towel left over to use. You gotta love that! Being summer here we are constantly on the “GO” so I wanted to make sure I had a few different options to use and take along with me.
I made a sunglasses case which I love especially when your by the beach and your kids are splashing water and kicking sand around. I also made a medium size carry tote, a wine or water bottle carry bag and lastly what I like to call my Izze carry tote. Yup I made it to specifically carry four to six cans of Izze drinks to the beach or poolside! The best part is if the bags get dirty you can just throw them in the wash just like your towels without a problem. Win win!
- Canvas Webbing – (Hobby Lobby)
- Palm Tree hang tags – (I found mine at the dollar spot at Target)
- Izze – Rasberry Watermelon Flavor
- Sewing Machine
- Measuring Ruler
- Rotary Cutter
- Cutting Mat
Begin by matching all four sides of your towel and placing your towel on a cutting mat, measure and start cutting using your rotary cutter. Cut your towel based on the size bags you would like to make. Set the larger remaining size of your towel aside.
Once you have done that you will want to start by cutting your larger tote. Mine measures 12″wide x 18″ tall, your Izze tote measures 10″ wide x *” tall, your sunglasses case measures 3.5″ wide x 7.5″ tall and your wine water bottle measures 4″ wide x 11″ tall.
Then you will want to ensure all sides are cut and trimmed then you can start to pin the sides you will be sewing together. I went about a 1/2 from the edge on all sides except for the larger tote on the top I went with a 1 inch hem.
You are now ready to start sewing your bags. For the handles of your carry totes cut the webbing to desired length for comfort and sew about 1 inch down inside the bag.
Now you are ready to head to the beach or pool in style! These would make great gifts too!
Which of these bags would be your go to summer bag?!
