Happy National Popcorn Day Everyone! Who else here loves popcorn? My absolute favorite kind of popcorn is Kettle Corn. However, the movie theater popcorn comes in at a close second! Have any of you ever had waffle bowl popcorn? This my friends, is a huge family tradition at my house. For the “LOVE” of Popcorn! It all started about five years ago when all my girls wanted was ice cream in those waffle bowls. Even though I love ice cream as much as the kids do, I wanted to offer a much
healthier option (maybe not that healthy) and the “Chocolate Drizzle Waffle Popcorn Bowl” was born. At first I would drizzle a small amount of melted chocolate all over the inside of the bowl and grab a handful of popcorn and drop it in. The girls thought it was so fun and they could also snack on the waffle drizzled bowl after the popcorn was all gone. Then the loaded waffle bowls began with the adults! LOL
I would have movie nights for the adults and we would load it with mini marshmallows, pretzels, sprinkles, chocolate and much more. The recipe below is one of the kids favorite and you can make this for any occasion. I decided to show you our Valentines Day waffle bowl. Hope you will love these as much as we do!
- Pink Candy Melts – Michaels
- Kettle Corn Popcorn
- Pretzel Sticks
- Mini Marshmallows
- Waffle Bowls
- Microwave Safe Bowls
- Parchment Paper
- Variety of Sprinkles
Start by melting your chocolate melts in the microwave. I started with 30 second increments checking in between each set to ensure the desired consistency. Make sure that you mix your chocolate well.
At this time you can start popping your popcorn in the microwave as directed on the package and place it on your laid out parchment paper.
Once you have done that, you can begin by drizzling your chocolate into your waffle bowl and over your popped popcorn. I have even dipped half the bowl in chocolate before.
Before the candy hardens you will want to add your toppings. I went with mini marshmallows, broken up pretzel sticks, heart sprinkles, light pink sugar, white pearl sprinkles and valentines day nonpareils.
Then set aside to harden.
As soon as the popcorn and toppings have harden, I scooped it by the hand full and filled up the pre-made chocolate waffle bowls.
Now its time to enjoy that movie or just have an extra special sweet treat!
What would some of your favorite toppings be?
