The Holidays are a wonderful time to spread the love and what better way than with a simple thoughtful gift idea! I wanted to create a gift that could be given to just about anyone especially those  you may not know very well, like at the office for secret Santa, the next door neighbor, teacher the possibilities are endless. If you have followed my blog you know I’m all about simple and quick gift ideas but I enjoy mixing things up! For this Holiday Gift Idea It all started with this small red ramekin I found at Michaels. I added all kinds of goodies that reminded me of the holidays. I even added a ceramic Christmas tree ornament that they or their little ones can decorate too. Who else is ready for the Holiday season?

Gift wrapping is one of my favorite things to do along with shopping for the perfect embellishment! With so many gifts around the tree, sometimes it can be overwhelming to tell who’s is which. You will not have a problem with this gift topper! The possibilities are endless from size, color options and messages. I can’t say enough about how many different things you can use memo boards for and after our mini diy memo place setting, I naturally had to carry it over to the gifts. When deciding what my message should be I decided to add “Smile” to her name because who would not want to after seeing your own personalized git topper that not only you get to keep but re use all year long! Its a win win! You can find these cute words and messages at Joann stores.

SUPPLIES:

  • Felt ( I went with two different colors) – (Joann’s)
  • White 5×7 Frame – (Target)
  • Hot Glue Gun – (Amazon)
  • Metal Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Corrugated Cardboard – (Staples)

IMG_0321PINIMAGE

INSTRUCTIONS:

Begin by measuring the inside of your frame to ensure your corrugated cardboard will fit in place. I decided to use the cardboard that came inside the frame as my guide.

Once you have measured cut your corrugated cardboard. Then cut a larger size of your felt material. You will want that to be larger as you will want to hot glue the felt in-between the groves of the board so it will require more material then the actual size.

Start at the top of your board with a line of hot glue. you will need to work fast as the glue will harden and not adhered to the felt. I used a metal ruler to push the felt into the grooves to ensure it was a secure hold.

You will want to repeat the process with your other color and pre cut it to shape to get the color block effect you see.

At this point you can cut the access felt material and place your felt board into your frame. Place the backing of your frame back in place to secure and use.

Now you are ready to add your guests name or short message and your gifts are ready to display.

Now Santa’s helper will have an easier time handing out this years presents! LOL

Let’s not “Wine” about the holidays! LOL I’ve got you covered with this cool placemat wine bag. Not only does it make a great holiday gift, it makes an awesome hostess gift too! When your talking about gifting I feel presentation and embellishments are key no matter how small. I decided to create a stylish, yet unique take on a wine bag.

Let’s talk about this wine bag which was made, yes from a placemat. When I came across this placemat at “TARGET”, my home away from home, I fell in love with the gold design. I decided to weave it closed with gold cording and add some elegant ribbon from Cream City Ribbon along with a silver name charm to complete the look. I think it turned out better than I could have imagined.

If you guys have not yet heard of Cream City Ribbon it is an amazing ribbon company, all hand made in the U.S. Made with 100% US grown cotton yarn and biodegradable. It is strong, vibrant and has a signature paper feel which I LOVE! The ribbon is easy to tie and extraordinary when curled. Not only do they offer a large selection of colors and designs but they offer custom ribbon design too. Cream City Ribbon is uniquely designed to curl, tie and be pulled apart, giving it endless possibilities.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Begin by using a wine bottle as your guide placing it on top of your placemat sitting flat. Then you will want to fold over as you would a present corner on the bottom of the bag to seal closed. I started tying off the center and then both ends with your gold cording. You do not even notice it because it blends in perfectly.

Once you have done that you will want to secure the center and top of placemat closed and ensure it wraps around your bottle.

At this point you are ready to loop your ribbon around the top of your wine bag and tie off. Then begin by curling all your ribbon as you wish. Cream City Ribbon is easy and look amazing curled!

To complete my look I decided to add a name charm and made a hole punch onto the front center of my ribbon and attached the hoop ring and charm and that was it. Now you have a custom wine bag with the initial of your host.

It’s that simple! Now its time to Party!

I Dip, you Dip, we all Dip! When the holidays arrive the get togethers begin which means making a dish, treat or dip to share. I like to live on the edge, the sweeter the treat the better.  As all of you know I LOVE LOVE my Sweetsindeed Candyfetti so it comes as no surprise I would make an extra sweet DIP with the colorful “Sugarplum” blend! This recipe is one you will want to keep around, not only is it quick and easy to make but the presentation and taste are “Amazing”!

I live in the midwest area and it gets “COLD” folks around here, real cold. This Dip Recipe would make a great addition to all those hot chocolate parties and days where you can’t leave your house because you can’t get out of your driveway and even if you could WHY, WHY would you want to? LOL My husband said it best, this “DIP” is dangerous to anyone trying to stick to a diet! ME

These “Ghostly Chocolate Splatter Treats” are not only fun but full of Halloween goodness! I wanted to make these for my daughter’s Halloween party at school.  I have been on this aqua kick lately so of course I went with that and a quick black splatter for fun! The ghostly sprinkles topped these off just right. Now for the goodie bags. I felt if the kiddos had too much candy at the party they could take some of these home. Because what’s a Halloween school party without the lovely sugar rush after! LOL I continued the cute ghostly theme onto the goodie bags.

Just think of all the color possibilities and toppings you could add for any occasion! I also made a few of these with a caramel truffle filling. YummIMG_8618PINIMAGEIMG_8619-2PINIMAGE

Recipe:

  • Aqua & Black Wilton Candy Melts – (Joann’s)
  • Chocolate Mold – (Michaels)
  • Sprinkles
  • Microwave Safe Bowls
  • Piping Bags
  • Spoons
  • Toothpicks

Treat Bags:

IMG_8636PINIMAGE

Directions:

Start by melting your chocolate melts in the microwave. I started with 30 second increments checking in between each set to ensure the desired consistency. Make sure that you mix your chocolate well.

I made sure to melt each color separately. As you will have to splatter the black into your mold first and place in the fridge for 15 minutes to ensure that it has harden before adding your other color.

At this point you are ready to add your aqua chocolate to your mold. I used a toothpick to get rid of any top air bubbles. Then I softly tapped the mold on the counter to remove any air bubbles and the chocolate was level.

Now they are ready to be placed back in the fridge for about 15 minutes until completely hardened.

Once you remove them from the fridge grab your mold and gently pull the sides apart to free the chocolates from the mold. This will make it easier to remove them.

Now you will want to melt a small amount of black chocolate to drizzle over the chocolates to add the ghostly sprinkles.

Treat Bag Directions:

At this time your ready to download, layout and cut your ghostly shape. You can find the design I used at the Silhouette Design Store.

Once you have your ghostly shape cut use a few glue dots to place them on each goodie bag.

Now your ready to fill your goodie bags!
