When summer rolls around all I want to do is be poolside and entertain with friends. I’m obsessed with anything fruity and cold when the heat of summer strikes, so I found sorbet. What is a sorbet? A dessert consisting of frozen fruit juice or flavored water and sugar. When I came across the new pineapple mango vodka by Svedka I knew I had to make a refreshing sorbet. One of the things I like most about sorbet is the texture, it’s almost like ice cream. This could very well be placed in an ice cream cone to enjoy! Now you may have to eat fast but hey if that’s the worst of it I’m in.

I also could not make this post with out having a few friends try my pineapple mango sorbet, which by the way was a huge hit! I even had my friend Sara’s sister come and visit, Thanks ‘Andrea” LOL and she quickly made a drink and this is what she did. She put some vodka in her glass along with a few scoops of sorbet and lime tonic water and guess what? It was amazing! A must try for sure!

  • 1/4 cup – Svedka Pineapple Mango Vodka (Svedka is known for their smooth aftertaste)
  • 1 1/2 cups of frozen pineapples
  • 1 cup of pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup of Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup of Water
  • 1 tbs. Xanthan gum
  • 1 large Lemon – Juiced
  • *Make Note that you can also add 1/2 to 1 cup of fresh Mangos as well*
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Ice Cream Maker – (I have this one Cuisinart)
  • Ice Cream Airtight Container – (I have the Tovolo 1 quart from Amazon)
  • Sauce Pan
  • Large Spoon

Begin by mixing the 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar in a sauce pan on medium to low heat till boiling. Remove from heat and let sit for at least 45 min. until syrup forms.

In blender mix 1 1/2 cup of frozen pineapples, 1 cup of pineapple chunks, 1/4 cup of vodka, 1 tbs. xanthan gum, lemon juice and then add your syrup mix. Blend until smooth.

Make sure to strain your mixture before placing it in your ice cream maker. I did not, as I wanted a little bit more texture in mine but that is personal preference.

Follow the instructions to your ice cream maker for making ice cream.

Once your sorbet has been mixed, pour it into your ice cream container and place in the freezer for at least 2 hours.

I took my sorbet out a few minutes before serving and scooped it into  mini bowls. Now you may add a garnish of choice and serve.

These have become one of my favorite desserts of summer!

“Stir Up” some summer fun with these custom stir sticks for your next summer party! There’s nothing better than going to a summer party and be served with an amazing drink. I wanted to create a collection of three completely unique stir sticks that would not only be fun but make a conversational piece. The best part is that you can turn these into party gifts.

The first Collection is “Coconuts” for some reason these reminded me of being on the beach in Puerto Rico sipping on Pina Coladas!

  • Round Burlap Bead – (Joann’s)
  • Wooden Round Beads – (Joann’s)
  • Acrylic Stir Sticks – (Amazon)
  • Acrylic Paint – (Micahels)
  • Painters Tape
  • Paint Brush
  • Drill & 5/32 Drill Bit

Begin by drilling your burlap bead with a 5/32 drill bit. You will want to use a desktop vise to ensure your bead is secure when drilling.

Once you have drilled your bead you will want to insert your bead onto your acrylic stir stick.

Then you will want to paint your wooden bead the color of your choice or you could leave them nautral. I painted mine because I wanted a bright fun feel to these. You could also paint a small design. I painted the beads with 3 coats to achive the color I was looking for.

Once dry you can insert them onto your acrylic stir stick.

That’s it! Not only are they easy to make and lots of fun but I could have made a hundred of these! The possibilities are endless!

The second Collection is “Hibiscus” these reminded me of the Native Hawaiian flower. These are the perfect shade of coral.

  • Coral Flower Bead – (Joann’s)
  • Gold wire – (Joann’s)
  • Acrylic Stir Sticks – (Amazon)
  • Wire Cutters
  • Jewlery needlenose pliers

Begin by stringing your floral bead with the gold wire and start to wind it around the top part of your acrylic stir stick.

Then you will want to make sure your flower is flat on your acrylic stir stick and continue to wrap it on the bottom of the flower to your acrylic stir stick.

Once you have wound it around as many times as you desire you will want to use your wire cutters to cut the rest of the gold wire.

At this point you will use your needlenose pliers to curl under the ends of the wire to ensure they are not sharp.

Now you are ready to serve your next drink in style!

The third collection is “Frisbees” the bright fun colors reminded me of playing frisbee on the beach in Florida with my BFF’s.

Begin by gluing your acrylic disks to your acrylic stir sticks. You will want to apply a small amount of pressure for a few seconds to hold it in place and then you will want to wait till they are dry.

While your beads are drying you can begin by cutting your vinyl designs. Once cut you can attach them right onto your acrylic disk.

At this point you are all set. Just imagine you can have letters and or specific designs around your event.

I also decided to gift these to some of our friends so I created the stir stick boxes you see below. I used white jewelry boxes (You can find these at any craft store) and embellished them with some vinyl palms leaves! You could also paint them or add a cool hemp ribbon for fun.

  • White Jewelry Boxes – (Joann’s)
  • Vinyl – (Joann’s)
  • Transfer Paper – (Joann’s)
  • Acrylic Stir Sticks – (Amazon)
  • Scissors
  • Silhouette Vinyl Tools
  • Ribbon or Rope
  • Silhouette – (Any Designs or text of choice)
  • Silhouette – Files #186901 & #131825

Begin by downloading your palm files and send them to cut on your Silhouette. You may use any design of your choice. We wanted to keep to our summer theme.

Once you have your vinyl designs cut and ready to go you will prep them and place them on your box.

It’s that simple. Then you can add your ribbon or rope and your ready to gift these to all your friends and neighbors.

Now you are ready to serve your next drink in style! These are by far one of the coolest DIY collections we have made. We hope you have enjoyed these as much as we have enjoyed sharing them with you! I would love to see some of your creations.

Which is your favorite collection?

Summer calls for fun & colorful statement necklaces and earrings! These are the perfect style for a girls night out, date night or just a fun day out and about. Not only are these super simple to make but the color combos and options are endless. I literally wanted to make one for all my friends! There is just something about getting all dressed up and adding that final piece of jewelry to make it all come together and complete the look! Or is that just me I wonder?!

When I came across these acrylic disks in the jewelry isle I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them.

Begin by taping your beads to a hard surface, I used 2″ painters tape all across them, then start drilling your acrylic bead with a 1/8 drill bit. You will want to make sure your bead is secure when drilling.

Once you have drilled your bead you will want to remove the tape and insert your earring hook onto your acrylic disk and add your gold heart charm.

That’s it! Not only are these simple to make but I love the versatility in them! The possibilities of colors and charms are endless!

  • Round Acrylic Beads – (Hobby Lobby)
  • Gold Chain – (Hobby Lobby)
  • Gold Round Hoops – (Hobby Lobby)
  • Needle nose plyers
  • Painters Tape
  • Hot Glue Gun or E600 Glue
  • Drill & 1/8 Drill Bit

Begin by taping your bead to a hard surface then start drilling your acrylic bead with a 1/8 drill bit. You will want to make sure your bead is secure when drilling.

Once you have drilled your bead, that will be at the top, you will want to remove the tape and insert your gold hoop and attach the chain and close the hoop with your needle nose pliers. Then glue the other discs onto the top bead.

That’s it! Not only is this simple to make but I love the versatility in them! The possibilities of colors and charms are endless!

What color combo would be your favorite?!

Father’s Day is just around the corner. Here is a simple but perfect gift idea. “A Tie Me Over” goodie box, get it! My husband sometimes has to be on the road alot so I wanted to make sure I covered the basics. You can make as many different variations as you want and once they are out you can just fill up their box once again.

  • Clear Plastic Box – (Target)
  • Vinyl – ( I used Navy, White and Light Blue) – (Joann’s)

Begin by purchasing your tie files.

Once you have opened your files prep your Silouette to cut vinyl and send your files to cut. You will have 3 different files if you choose to print 3 various colors as I did.

At this point you will Prep your vinyl with the tranfer paper and place your first file onto your box. Make sure its centered on your box. Then continue with the two additional files.

Once you have merged all 3 vinyl files onto your box you can begin to fill it with the goodies of your choice and it’s ready to gift.

Do you have any fun Father’s Day traditions?

This Strawberry Lemonade Granita is sure to be my summer go to! It’s simply tasty and refreshing. Just imagine a flavored snow cone but for adults. I’m in, the perfect poolside refreshment! When I made these I of course had to have testers, when I asked my friends if they wanted to try a granita they said what is it? WHAT?? What do you mean you don’t know what a granita is? Come to find out most perople don’t know what it is and have never tried it. I’m here to fix that problem! LOL

A Granita is a coarse, Italian – Styled flavored ice. A drink made with crushed ice. It is a semi-frozen dessert made from sugar, water and various flavorings.

Once I went over what it was and that it had a flavored Vodka in it how could they say “NO” right?! Everyone pretty much loved them. They wanted to go and try making their own flavors at home!

You can make these with any flavored alcohol and based on the juice you use thats where the color comes in or you can use food coloring and get the color you would like. These can be served in small glassware as I used or a traditional snow cone. Yup you can have your own personal adult snow cone station at your next party!

  • 2 Tbs. -(If you wish to add more you can use a 1/4 cup instead) Svedka Strawberry Lemonade Vodka (Svedka is known for their smooth aftertaste)
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups of Strawberry Lemonade Juice – (I used Simply Lemonade with Strawberry)
  • 1/3 cup of Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 cup of Water
  • 1/4 cup of Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • 9×13 Glass Pan
  • Large Spoon

Begin by mixing the 1/4 cup of water and 1/3 cup of sugar till fully dissolved.

Once you have mixed the sugar and water set aside, cut and squeeze your lemon until you have 1/4 cup. I used one lemon.

At this point you will want to add the lemon juice to your already made mix and add the remainder of ingredients. Make sure to mix all ingredients well. Note you can use any kind of liquor you would like.

Now you will want to pour your granita into your 9×13 pan for 4-5 hours or overnight as I did.

After your granita is frozen you will want to take it out right before serving as you would hate for it to melt. Note that you can also drink a granita if that does happen.

Right before serving you will want to crush up your granita by pressing the back of a spoon on top. Once you do that you can scoop it up into your glass, add a garnish of choice and serve.

If you would like a snow cone option I recommend using a snow cone machine and placing it in there to serve.

Hope you will enjoy these as much as we did!

What would your favorite flavor of Vodka be?
